Theatre JEANNE D'ARC
Sort/Hvid

Sort/Hvid [Black/White] is an experimental performing arts venue based in a former slaughterhouse in Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District. We create and present bold interdisciplinary works where theatre, music and visual art collide. With a strong focus on new music theatre, we challenge artistic conventions and invite audiences into immersive, unpredictable experiences that question contemporary society, morality and the body.

JEANNE D'ARC

Sort/Hvid goes to electronic war with Joan of Arc in a radical new opera inspired by Giuseppe Verdi’s Giovanna d’Arco.

Composer and sound artist SØS Gunver Ryberg deconstructs Verdi’s 1845 score into an intense fusion of opera, electronic music and live percussion. Opera singers, dancers and musicians perform alongside new texts by poets, activists and playwrights. Created by director Anja Behrens and scenographer Nathalie Mellbye, Jeanne d'Arc explores courage, sacrifice and moral responsibility in a world marked by war, confronting audiences with one urgent question: Would you go to war for justice?
