SHÃH MÃT

A play. A game. One single move and the opponent is beheaded with the words: "Checkmate"; SHĀH MĀT - The king has fallen.

SHÃH MÃT is a large scale dance theater performance made in collaboration between two of Denmark’s most influential dance companies.

16 dancers and a wild joker occupy an over-dimensioned chess board where epic battles play out in new choreography by award winning Stephanie Thomasen.

The performers’ talents span wide within in contemporary dance, breaking, street dance, acrobatics and physical theater. The pulsating live music is by DJ Turkman Souljah and percussionist Alexander Skjold.

Music, set design and choreography melted into a performance that critics deemed a “landmark” for contemporary dance and “the most supreme the Danish dance scene can deliver”.
